Just got in from picking 2 bushels of white half runners. Amazing how 78 degrees just don't seem that hot till you are in the bean patch, I must have sweated out a gallon this morning. The humidity is about 95% this morning. Now to break, wash, and freeze. Be good eating this winter.

I'm getting my daily rain now.  This morning I pulled some weeds, picked one cuke, a few peas and peppers.  My Ison muscadines are ready to start picking but they don't have any taste due to too much water.  I emptied my rain gauge which was running over at 6 inches in the past two days.  I wonder why weeds never rot off at the roots.  I'm ready to plant some stuff.  I feel like I'm wasting the growing season but no sooner go out the door and it starts up again.

Our little garden in the yard is producing like crazy. put up 10 pounds of shelled PHP's, okra and tomatoes going wild and the zipper creams are getting ready & had a surprise 2 LB zuchinni yesterdy. Planted my big garden for the first time today, a total of 5520 feet of rows.  used my earthway planter for the firs time and it definitely takes a lot of work out of planting.

Over the last few weeks as i turned cow pasture into a garden area i turned up a pile of old  plow and planter parts from back when this place was a mostly self sufficient plantation dating back to before the civil war.

I was gonna tear down my snap beans and lima beans vines, ropes, and poles today, but it was too darn muddy to do anything.

Started pulling the corn (stalks). Picked okra, ONE little tomato, and then made the decision to plow it up next weekend...it's done (except for the okra, that is).

According to ACES, the cutoff for PHPs was in July, but GA extension service says Aug 1-10, so, as I'm right on the border, I'm going to give it a go.

As my BIL (and his tractor) is APPARENTLY mad at us (he seems to have his butt on his shoulders lately for some reason), I went ahead and ordered the reverse disc kit for my tiller so I can have something to work with. I really despise having to rely on someone else for anything, KWIM?

Just finished running the tiller between rows. Planted a row of sweet potatoes and new potatoes that had sproited eyes and shoots in thaepantry. I also tilled under the back section to start getting it ready to plant alfalfa and chufa for deer season. Man cannot live by veggies alone.....at least this one can't. Grin

This is for the whole month of July,, The spring garden is out and plowed, the tomatoes are plowed in their

place are green beans, the squash is plowed followed by purple hull peas,  the corn is plowed followed by

cabbage, broccoli, collards, and fall greens, the spring beans are out more okra in their place.  I will be

planting a few more cucumbers, and  tomatoes.

Kinda feels like spring planting all over again...  more seeds than ground to put them all into..

Rain this morning so I just went over to check on the progress of the beans and corn. Kandy Corn is ready - I think all of it will be ready by Wednesday. So I will pick it wed morning. The beans - speckled greasies, lazy wifes, and true cranberries - have a couple more weeks till the first picking.

This morning Brenda picked almost 2 pounds of hot banana peppers and over 2 pounds of sweet banana peppers. She is going to pickle and can them in the morning. I don't like either one of them but I do like the hot pepper juice on my collards and purple hull crowders!  Grin

Finally dried up enough to get into the garden. Finished removing cucumber cages and got that tilled up. The bell peppers are putting on their 3rd crop, and still growing upwards. All are about 4' tall and looking like they're not ready to give up yet. I guess I could buy some ground beef, and freeze some stuffed peppers.

I picked a 5 gallon can of bell peppers and about 1 gallon can of jalepeno peppers, and a few late tomatoes.

Thank goodness the garden is giving me some down time, so I can concentrate on thinking about deer hunting prerequisites   Smiley

Finally got around to picking the Kandy Corn today. 20 doz. Not a bad haul considering I didn't think I would get any. The ears were really small but they were pretty tasty. Put up 5 doz roast-n-ears and cut the rest off and fried in butter and in the freezer.

Pulled up spring planted lemon squash. Cut off some to save seeds.  Watered this morning. Planted some New Zealand spinach and porticula seeds and watered those in.
Waiting for seeds to come in the mail.... I still have a window for more squash, cukes, and melons. I have okra and pepper seeds sprouted for fall. Will plant more pole beans this week. Will mulch more.

Practicing laying rows with hiller discs set at different widths. Okra is producing well, but not filling out for some reason. So since I was playing with the hiller disks, I fertilized and layed by it hoping that may help it. Watered late peas.

Busy this morning full moon tomorrow, rain most likely this morning.  Laying off the fields getting ready to

to transplant broccoli, and cabbage.  Then to make late plantings of peas and greens.  The garden break is

over, fall planting is just gearing up..  Yeah, I'm happy.

Nothing, my garden is on auto-pilot. I am in St. Louis all this week for daughter's Bible Quiz tournament. Be back home on Friday to see how much damage was done by the auto-pilot function.  Wink  Huh?

It's the same every year for me.  The beginning of vacation is the end of the garden, other than what I can salvage from the weeds.
