bkwoods ... Ya'll hadn't seen the rolling cultivator in action yet. You would have to live in a farming community to find one of those so you're safe, for now. Donald

Donald I bought a rolling cultivator 2 days ago. Will pick up next week. I wish you would make a video so I would know how to use it correctly. Equipment list is almost complete.

You’ll find you can tilt the tines to the shape of the rows you’re drawing. You can rotate then to pull dirt, throw dirt, or run straight. You can move each gang closer or farther away from the plants depending on the size of the plant. For those who plant flat it works just as well. I’ll plant my sweet corn flat and used them to layby and pull dirt up to the stalks. With just a small adjustment you could draw rows with it.
I don’t have anything in the garden to use them on right now but as soon as I do I’ll shoot some footage.

Zone 8b between Houston and San Antonio FacebookBlogImagesEvery acre of corn grown requires at least 50 gallons of oil and a lot of acres are planted every year. The average processed food item travels 1,500 miles before it is consumed. More than 1/2 of all the synthetic nitrogen made is applied to corn. Synthetic nitrogen is derived from natural gas. Hybrid corn is “designed” to convert nitrogen to food at greater speed. The cow does not naturally eat corn. They eat grass. Feed corn has to be smashed, treated, and combined with other things before a cow will eat it and even then if the cow isn't fed antibiotics it will get sick and die.

My buddy picked up several 6 and 8 row sets from local farmers. He owns a fab shop and turned them into 1 row sets. I was lucky enough to get one.

I bought a sheller from Donald. Man this thing sure works slick!!!!! I got it monday afternoon and I'm almost done shelling beans. It works great on dried beans. Waiting for Butter Beans to finish filling out and Limas. It would take hours by hand to do what this thing will do in minutes. My wife loves it!!! If you can aford one I would buy one this thing works wonders on beans. Thanks Donald, GBG

I've had one of those shellers for at least 10 years. Get a couple of people together around a table and have 4 hands shoving at the same time and it will outshell a commercial rotary sheller.....hahaha. And i'm not sure if you can wear one out. I've put unknown numbers of bushels of peas and butterbeans thru mine, and it's still working fine....

Taylor puts out a quality product that is built to last. It’s not like that China $%#@* you buy that’s designed to be used a few times and thrown away. If the US had a lot more companies like that we wouldn’t be in the shape we’re in. They also have something others have forgotten about, real customer service.

I finally started picking peas here, I have purple hulls, mississippi silvers, and colossus. The sheller
worked great on the purple hulls. The larger peas I had to remove the finger guard to get them to the
rollers, then adjust the rollers a bit to shell the crowders. Once I had a the adjustment every thing went
fine. You have to make sure to pick the mature peas, if they aren't fully ripe they may mash some of the
peas. I'm happy with my new sheller, just a heads up for those who may be shelling many different types
of peas. You may need to adjust the rollers, for that type of pea.

Got mine in a couple of weeks ago. I LUV IT. Need to find (grow) some purplehulls to shell, though. I found a neat neat way to lubricate the bearings; I bought a basting syringe and cut off the sharp tip to leave one side port. I fill it with mineral oil and the needle fits ever so neatly in the greasing ports. Works like a charm and no spillage or mess.

Donald..bought my pea sheller today..Thanks for the link on your website..real easy.. I will be picking php in a couple of weeks. I know my wife and kids will not miss shelling peas. I got my rolling cultivator dialed in, it works fantastic. I planted my php 2 ways. First i used row hipper to draw a wide row about 120 ft. I planted php in a double row about 8 in apart. They are doing really well and they shaded out the weeds. Second way I used my 2 row rolling cultivator to draw two rows 30 in apart and planted on the row. I cultivated them the other day. The cultivator did a wonderfull job..So far i like the wide double planted row.

I used my sheller to shell a couple of bushels of beans for one of the growers at the market..
( I can't believe he gets 6 dollars for a quart of dry beans @ the market)
Saw him Saturday at the market, he bought one.

Bruce ... I was offered to be a dealer for the Hooke n' Crooke but we don't have a "Boxes R Us" here in Hamburg so it would be very difficult for me to ship em. A friend of mine called to order both the Heron and Honey Bee Long and they are out of stock. Each is hand made so I guess it's a limited supply. If you're interested call em and get your name on the books, I'm sure they'd have some ready before the spring.

I have had a Little Sheller for about 15-20 years and have been making do with odds and ends receiver tubs. Some don't fit too well, so I need a new one. Does anyone know where to get replacements (they don't list parts on the Taylor site)?
