This is a video for those who are having trouble inserting images into their topics or replies.

First thing you want to do is create a free account with http://www.photobucket.com/  or any other free image hosting services out there.

Then watch the video.

Hope this helps,

Donald,

That was very helpful, I knew about photobucket and how to change image size but didn't know how to download from your desktop.

Thanks

If you can get those images down below 128 KB that is the easiest and fastest way of doing it.  The thumbnails make it much easier for those with a slower connection to open the pages.

I recommend "easythumbs" it will let you set the picture size at 128k and you can also batch resize. Plus its free!

Ok Donald, I posted these photos of the confederate roses but you can't click on them and make them larger. Do you know why that is. I posted them off of Photobucket.

thanks,

That works if you upload directly from your computer using the "Additional Options" in the bottom left hand corner.  I'll try to figure out a way using PhotoBucket but then you'll need to have a thumbnail size image and a full size one uploaded on PhotoBucket.

Watch the video again on the two methods of inserting images.

I was still learning to upload images and resizing the photos. I found a way that to me is much easier than Photo bucket. I selected the photos I wanted off of My Pictures on my computer and e-mailed them to myself.

When you do this it automatically resizes the photos to a smaller JPEG size that is compatible to posting on this site. After receiving the e-mail, you can click save all and save them back to your photos on your computer and they will be saved in the smaller size.

Once that is done and you get ready to post a photo, just click Browse, go to those photos and select the one's you want. No need for a Photobucket account, trying to remember another password or account info.
These are a couple of shots of my Turnips and mustard greens. The guy was supposed to be selling me turnips but most of them turned out to be mustard greens.

A couple of muscadines I planted.  Hopefully I'm doing this right.  Also a picture of my jerry rigged heated seed warmer I'm tinkering with.  The soil is reading 120 degrees.  I'll think I'll put it on a timer and see if I can get the temp to drop around 60 to 70.  Any suggestions welcomed.

How about using a thermostat to control the temp?

I thought about that.  Not sure if I would need to order one from the internet.  If you know of some place in particular let me know.  I Also thought about wiring it with a dimmer switch to control the power.  Thats probably the cheapest route.  Of course I'd have to buy a dimmer switch and cut the cord etc..  Let me just go ahead an mention the wife doesn't like this idea.

You would need an actual 120 volt stat rather than 24 volt like in your home.  Could probably pick one up at any commerical A/C and heating supply house.  Tell them what you want to control and they'll know what will work.  Probably show you how to hook it up too.

You need a baseboard heater thermostat, they can be purchased for about $20.00 and you would wire them to the heat lamp or whatever it is that you are using to heat the soil. All they do is turn the power off and on to heater when a set temprature is reached.

I think Lowes has them, but if you google "baseboard heater thermostat" you will find plenty of them at various places that you can order.

GT ... if you notice the file size you'll see you are way under the 128 KB.  You could post an even larger image say 600 x 400 pixels with no problems.

An easy way to batch resize is to email all the pics to yourself and select make pics smaller.

FYI:  If you already have a facebook account you can use it instead of photobucket, etc.  Just right click on the photo, go to properties and copy the address.

The size of the photo will be small if you click the small pic that shows up in the overview of all photos in the album, like this:

If you want a larger photo, click on the smaller photo to view it larger on Facebook and do the same thing (right click while on the large photo, go to properties, then copy and paste the address as instructed above).  It will look like this:

That's me and the hubby, by the way.  Hello all!
