The Artillery Hold

I thought I would get a pellet rifle for the grandson to shoot while here, so I picked up a break barrel gun
at the local sport center. I tried and tried to adjust the scope on the thing and it just wouldn't form a pattern
and shot wild most of the time. I realized it had something to do with the spring travel inside the gun.
Well I found out its the way I was holding the rifle, it must be held lightly and let the rifle move as its fired.
this is called an Artillery Hold. Its or I'm shooting much better now and we are looking forward to season.
Oh Yeah I'm sticking with the shotgun...

My grandson has a pellet rifle (like you described) that I have a hard time hitting anything with. Maybe I need to try a different hold too. Thanks.

This guy explains it, why it works and how to hold the rifle.

I bought a Daisy .22 a couple years ago. It is a pump up, came with a cheap scope that turned out to be pretty good. I find it pretty accurate. My main problem with it is that it is a single shot and you cannot reload in a hurry.
I can hit a squirrel, knock it off it's limb and watch it hang there while I try to reload and then it recoups enough to run away before I get the gun reloaded. A second shot would bring the animal down. I have shot larger (don't want to say exactly what) animals dead with a single shot so I know the power is there..
For a quiet rifle that I can shoot in the city limits without alarming the neighbors, it is pretty good.
