Raccoons, what a pain in the rear!

« on: June 29, 2012, 12:51:44 PM »

I was reading a post earlier and it got me thinking about generational gaps and how times have changed. I've come to one simple conclusion to a lot of the world's problems. Parenting! If more parents got involved in their children's lives past giving them 5 minutes of playtime then handing them a video game or telling them to go play, i'm convinced the world would have less problems.

I'm 27 years old, i have a 7 year old son, I'm a young parent, but i'm also a conservative who LOVES this country and what it's supposed to stand for. I just want some of you older folks (don't take that as an insult, i look up to those of you who have more experience at life under your belt) to know that there are still young people who care and who look up to older people with RESPECT. I teach my son to open doors for people, to say yes mame/sir and to have manners in general. One of the things that makes me proud is when my 7 year old son sees a soldier he walks up and says "thank you for your service" and although he doesn't fully understand what that means, you should see the look on the men/women's faces when he tells them that. Last week he told an Air Force recruiter that and the guy was kind of in shock, he told my son to hold on and went and gathered some hats and stuff for him to have and brought them. I got a little tear in my eye seeing that, made me proud to be an American and have an amazing well behaved and respectful son!

Also (sorry for the rant but i felt like expressing myself) this is an amazing country and as long as i have any say whatsoever in the matter i will fight tooth and nail to keep individual rights and freedoms over government control til the day i die! God Bless America and those who fight to keep her free!

How refreshing.....thank you for taking your parenting responsibility serious.  You and your son (and hopefully millions more) will be the salvation of our country.  God Bless you both.

With all the war and fight terrorism around the world now, my wife asked me what we would do it my now 5 year old wanted to join the service, I replied help him pack, put some money in his account and wish him well. Freedom is and has never been free. And if he wants to pay for his I have to support that. My dad and brother and 5 uncles and 2 cousins all paid their share to keep us free. I never did. I am indebted to all them for this. And if providing my son with the chance to do so I will. I had 14 great uncles in WWII at the same time, 6 from the same family, we know sacrifice. I spent 18 months working 7 days a week part of the last 3 years covering a guys job that was in Afganistan. I had a Mon-Fri job already and offered to work every Sat-Sun on a midnight shift for 18 months so this guy in the gaurd could come back to his normal job and they wouldn't have to hire someone else and then let them go. I knew when he got home that my weekend shift would be over. My daughter asked why we couldn't go a trip or spend a weekend somewhere I explained that while this guy was fighting for our freedom I was covering for him at home. And that when he got back it would be over. She said it seemed like a lot of sacrificeing to do for this war. I took her next door to talk to Mrs. Evans she is 80 years old and I had her tell her about ration books, no tires, no gas, no sugar and the rest. My kids understand what  freedom cost now.
