They kind of look like brown lady bugs.  Shiny.  Are they good or bad?

yup, looks like kudzu bugs....

never seen them here in NC before until this spring....and when they came, they showed up by the millions around here...

already, I do know I hate 'em...from what I read, they're a pest...and I treat 'em as such...they get the big guns... Grin

Definitely kudzu bug. I've got them in my edamame. NC State has reported them in over 60 NC counties. They were first found in GA in 2009. That's a rapid spread. Sevin works and Spinosad will work but may take multiple apps. Watch for them in your clover cover crops in the spring as well. Good luck

Those things showed up here two weeks ago along with the Japanese Beetles.
