Bunkie, Louisiana  10:00 AM

http://www.auctionzip.com/Listings/1419812.html

Will be going to this in the morning.  Looks like they have lots of stuff my buddy needs to put together some hippers, cultivators, middle busters, etc.

I'm heading to one myself in the morning, little closer to me, that supposedly has a potato plow for sale and some other goodies I'm interested in.

I have gone on occasion to a regular one in Orangeburg, (about 35 miles from me).

I found out that you have to be careful at many of these auctions. They may have some funny business going on. Some people working for the auctioneer will bid prices up to get people to play, and sometimes will not accept an offer if they think it is too low, for instance. You have to know what the value is of what you want before you bid...

When I got up yesterday morning it was raining, windy and had cooled off so I decided not to go.  My buddy went and picked up a few pieces of equipment.  He now has a good supply of rolling cultivator parts as well as a couple of 8 row sets of hippers.  He’ll be making some one row sets out of both.

He told me I missed out on a PTO ditcher for the garden that went at a real good price.

It rained all day yesterday and never got above 42 degrees. Still was biggest sale I have ever been to. I got there early and had buyer# 458 so I estimate over 800 was there. All standing in pouring down rain from 9Am till 6Pm. By the time I left there I was plum froze to death and soaking wet even with rain gear. Mud was A hole deep too. They had near 10acres of stuff to sell with 4 auctioneers going at the same time. So what did I buy. An 8' Ford rotary hoe, 6" IH burr mill, and a horse drawn potato plow plus misc other stuff.

Went back to get my stuff Monday morning and heard they had problems with scrapers coming in after dark Saturday and stealing stuff. I didn't loose anything but many others did. Found that out after just talking with a friend about this topic and he said it was rare to have stuff come up missing after a sale. High scrap value IMO hasn't been a good thing.

I have a double garage with no doors.  I already know better than to put anything of value out there.  It faces the road but there are plenty of large azaleas and such making it difficult for traffic to see through unless they're really trying.  Week before last, I changed out my dishwasher and refrigerator and put the old ones out there because my son in law said he knew somebody that needed them.  I've done had two people stop and ask for them so yesterday I told the second one to take them.  All it was doing was baiting them up but at least they asked instead of stealing.
