It'z Gonna Be Memorial Day Sthoon!

I read last week that Utah is working on legislation to issue it's on currency, backed by the state's own resources and not based upon the Federal Reserve Credit system.  Their money will be recognized within Utah and any other state that wishes to honor it.  The Fed is P.O.ed.   Wink

Now the Missouri House has voted on and passed a bill to recognize Silver and Gold as legal tender. More commerce not in Federal Reserve Bank notes.  No foreign banks with their greasy, greedy little foreign fingers in the midst of our internal commerce.  It is just a start but I applaud both Utah and Missouri for taking the first steps in breaking the monopoly of 99 years controlling our money from abroad.  Now we need the rest of the individual "Nation States" within this debacle called the Federal Reserve to let the bankers know their arrogance and totalitarian hold on our economy is possibly coming to an end.  I hope the other states, or at least a sizable bloc of them will follow.   Wink

Amen!!!  Freedom of choice is a wonderful and powerful thing, but I don't think they will be allowed to go forward with it.  Corruption reaches into every nook and cranny of the centers of power, including the Supreme Court.  UT and MO deserve our respect for trying.  It took a lot of courage.

The vast majority of the population has no idea what crimes have been and continue to be committed against us by the fed or how it works.  One of the best things that could happen is if this move causes a big public discussion and awareness.  Of course that wouldn't happen since media would be controlled to stay quiet about it.  Our ignorance and apathy are essential to their survival.

Utah passed legislation in 2011 & 2012 to allow the use of gold and silver as an alternative currency as legal tender within the state as long as both buyer and seller are willing.  The state capital gains tax on the sale of gold and silver coins was also eliminated.  I haven't seen anyone attempt to use gold or silver locally as yet.  I suspect the volatility of the value of both metals will be an issue in its use as currency.

I took allot of Economics courses in graduate school and really believe the reasoning and theory behind the creation of the Federal Reserve was good and sound.  The problem seems to be the people who have run it over the years.  They started out doing a little tinkering to smooth out the normal cycles (boom & bust) to where they could create a moderate sustained growth over time.  This is a good thing.  Over the last 30 to 40 years they ventured too far into sustaining the CONTINUAL growth of the housing sector to the point where house prices got ridiculously high.  This was mostly Congresses fault (Barney Frank & Chris Dodd) for providing the funding mechanisms.  After all how many folks can afford $2,000 to $10,000 a month house payment?  The general population was ok with it because it made their personal balance sheets look good if you already owned a house.  The Federal Reserve is tasked with the funding of Congresses largess.  If they spend it the Fed has to finance it.

The concept was good the application of it was bad.

Given our governments inability to live within it's means ultimately their borrowing binge in the Treasury market will be met with demands for higher rates and then no takers at all.  Exactly what is happening in Europe right now.  This is why you are seeing states considering creating their own currency.  If the Federal greenback bubble bursts all states will have to do the same.  I have true concerns for our childrens future.

I could go on and on about this subject but tried to keep it brief.

Mudfish - that is one of the simplest (and clearest) explanations about the Fed that I have ran into.

I love the idea of a United 50 states and would prefer to preserve it.  Our entire financial system is based on monetized debt.  The member banks (the too big to fails) get to keep 6% of the created money as profit, off the top.  70% of the world trade is done in US dollars which forces the other countries to buy our debt as Treasury Bills to settle their accounts.  This has allowed us to become addicted to debt ever since Nixon started it in 1974. They're increasingly upset with the manipulation (weakening) of the US dollar and as our debt grows ever larger, everybody is losing (lost) faith that we can or will ever be able pay it off.  The whole works is in grave danger of going off the rails.

Utah and Missouri have shown they're aware and concerned, right or wrong, and it's sad that it had to come to this.  The vast majority of us can't afford to buy gold and silver so the next best thing is to invest in, support and build our local and regional economies with a view to being sustainable while we still can.

Hi Tutti-
Yep, you are all over it.  The shear fact that several states are starting to prepair is a bit disconcerting.  The truely sad part is that Congress & Executive branch seems to be pushing the gas pedal all the way to the floor as we approach the cliff.

Phrases like "austerity measures" and "shared sacrafice" are probably in our future.

I hate to use the word "prepping" because of the stigma associated with it.  However, having a few supplies and a local social network of some sort now is probably not a bad idea.  The way I see is what's the worst that could happen if you had a little extra stuff around the house.  Then again, whats the worst that could happen if you don't.

mudfish2,
I don't think they are accelerating toward a cliff.  I think they are heading for a solid granite wall full speed ahead!!!

This is good news, Im glad to hear it.  There are quite a few other states out there with laws like this sitting on the shelf just in case, when the dollar finally tanks (as I think it inevitably must now) I think there will be a flurry of bills passing.

I wonder...are those Confederate dollars? Looks like the Feds will have to rein in a few states. I think it was done before...
