I think what you mean Tbird is we are non-commercial people doing what we do because of the fun in it. If it were more commercial...it would become a job and not fun anymore. And more than just a hobby, too. More like a way of life.

I have not been posting for some time, since I am way too busy these days... but from time to time, I still come here to read lots of posts. And I had not notice this problem. I am sorry to hear about it. I always felt great camaraderie here. Everyone I have spoken to and everyone I have met last year at the Get Together was, and still are, very pleasant people to know.
There is enough war and quarrel in this world, can we just talk garden in peace?

I have noted a few disgruntled folks (or is it gruntled...LOL). It is inevitable that as a grroup grows there will be folks who in attitude/disposition do not seem to fit in. These folks will usually migrate away to another area. It is sort of like the story of a person who was contemplating moving into a neighborhood. He asked a neighbor about people in the neighborhood....the resident replied by asking the prospective newcomer about the neighborhood he was leaving. The reply was that the neighbors were disagreeable/unfriendly, etc, etc. The resident told the newcomer "then you will probably find this neighborhood to be like that as well". People often carry baggage with them wherever they go.....LOL

Amen DF! Why do people move FROM somewhere they hate, TO somewhere they want to live and them IMMEDIATELY try to CHANGE the new place to be like the old place they hated? What ever happened to, "Hey this is nice! Let's not change a thing!" Human nature, well after the fall that is.

Wow I'm glad I missed the B's, I have not posted or read much in the last 3 months, because of (((( I have been busy'er than a one legged rooster in a butt kicking contest.)))) God Bless Donald and the moderators for all they do, for I have learned more on this forum about gardening than most gardening magazine's I read in my life.
I totally agree with TBird on his first post. I love you all like family. Thank You so much for making such a Tremendous FORUM. I thoroughly enjoy the pictures and videos of gardening. I finally got my Farmall M running good and I for now am having to much fun using it. God Bless Gary

As for me, I have thoroughly enjoyed this forum. Seems like a great bunch of folks, and each of us approach our gardens a little differently. I have learned a lot as a direct result of reading all the different threads on topics that interest me.
I suppose there are trolls that love to disrupt forums just for the fun of it. They need to "get a life".
Anyway, to Donald, T, and the other moderators; Thank you for an awesome forum! Please keep up the great work.

I certainly hope I haven't offended anyone. I do like to carry on about tractor colors. We all know that Crops are Green and Tractors are Red (Unless you happen to be a beet farmer) I enjoy the forum and have learned a lot. I hope that I have been able to help a few folks along the way. I would hope that everyone understands that we each have to develop our techniques that work for us. By exchanging ideas we are able to explore and expand our horizons. Some things that work in Mississippi may not work for those folks in Canada or Australia; but it is the exchange of ideas that make this board great. Vince has taught me a lot about cold weather crops and Tuna has made me very jealous of his fresh veggies at the times when it is too cold for me to even think about the garden. I guess it is only fair since he is in his winter while we are all enjoying spring and summer. I truly enjoy the forum and all of the people on here. Just remember Friends don't let friends drive green tractors Tim PS I got caught on a green tractor last week

Hey Tim- The only thing that would help that picture is to have a green hat instead of blue. Then frame it. ; Since I would let you drive my nice, big, Green tractor, we can't be friends. I agree with you about the forum- what a great place. Mike

Dragonfly, that is my experience with new employees, I think it is the single most important interview question to ask, "how were the people at the last company you worked for?" or "how was the management at the last company you worked for?"

I have been with this group for a long time. I remember when we switched to this current forum. I don't post much anymore but check in several times a week and still get excited to see another video. Donald and the moderators do a wonderful job and usually a few worms get into the apple barrel but that is with all things nowadays. Keep up the good work and the bad will weed it self out.
Hahaha, checked my post count since 2009 and it says I am still a newbie. Wish I felt new after a long day in the garden.

I don't know what I would do without this forum. It's more than just information sharing, getting expert advice...it's building friendships as close as family. Boot those that need to be booted. And then remove them from the forum..

I have not been here much lately, have been really busy. Work is pushing really hard, getting a little older so don't have as much reserve after pulling a couple of 10 or 12 hour shifts back to back. Getting closer to retirement so there is much focus on getting there. I am also rebuilding our boat. That is a BIG job. I am still gardening and have had a really good garden this year. Also have 4 grand kids that we are trying to enjoy. All of that said. This is a great forum. We all have strong opinions and the longer we live, tend to see things for what they really are. There is so much bad science and misinformation out there that sometimes it is difficult to just "let it slide". I am getting better at it and focus on my own world. I garden in raised beds because that is all I can do. What I have is much more than I can keep up with. Planting is one thing, caring for, is indeed an entirely another issue!!!
Keep it going Donald, you do a great job. I belong to several other forums, this one is by far one of the most friendly.
Happy father's day all!!!

I know I have just joined the group, but how could you be unhappy or cause trouble on a garden forum??Gardens, and gardners are the one true, few things on this earth that are wonderfull.Gardens are a blessing to the soul. Its how I get close to God and nature and my native heritage..No matter what you do in life or how you feel about politics,or how rich or poor ,or sick or healthy you are ,If you are a man or woman, 18 ,or 80,We all are equal we it comes to being a gardener, and working and talking ,and sharing our thoughts, tips, and photos. The pride we feel when we eat our first home grown tater,or tomato. It soothes my worn out body and soul,as I have lost a mother in law to the tornados ,plus an aunt as well in the april storms, plus my mother last june, that was 3 family in 3 months. So from my tours in Desert storm, and 2 tours in Iraq,as well as havin 3 of my boys back home for good who each served 3 tours in Iraq,a marine, army, and my air force son who was injured there,so now we spend our days together planting, watching things grow, and thanking God for every single day. Yes I love my garden, and my gardener family. Thanks for letting me ramble a bit..

In answer to your question TnCherokee, sometimes people will begin to think their way, or their political beliefs or some things they do or believe are the standard and everyone else is wrong and they start to make sure others know it. Every once in a while, usually when gardening slows down people will sometimes bring up other topics not really related to gardening and that can morph into something else. In the past we have lost some good gardeners to personal problems like disobeying rules then trashing the moderator that pointed the violation out. It is rare here, but it happens.

Well, my wife, daughter, and wife's mom and sister decided to take a trip to the Mouse House. They left on Saturday, June 9th. I was led to believe, or I assumed (hard to know for sure) that they would be back on June 17th, Fathers Day. So I called on the 16th to make sure they were leaving. The answer? "Yes, we're leaving for the Magic Kingdom right now"... silence on my part..... They should be here by Thursday the 21st. So I called on Wednesday, the 20th, to confirm that they were leaving. Uh, nope...they are having a really good time. They should be here by Saturday the 23rd. again....silence.. "Achmed the Terrorist" on Jeff Dunham's show would have been proud of me. I was about ready to start blowing stuff up too! LOL. The gardens are producing like crazy. I'm giving stuff away hand over fist. Other folks are getting things canned up, and I now have a stack of new jars just waiting for someone to show up and get busy. I have pressure washed all three decks, put 2 coats of stain on them, started pressure washing the house and gutters, kept the gardens watered, all the flowers watered ,the cats fed, the dishes washed, the clothes washed, swept the floor, dusted the furniture, cooked my own meals (if you call putting Ramen noodles in a bowl of water cooking), done all my grass cutting on this entire property, picked cukes and maters till I'm tired of them.... basically everything inside and outside and I still have no idea IF or WHEN the folks will be back. Sooner or later they're gonna run out of money.....aren't they? ? ? ? Needless to say... I am a very Unhappy member. PS... they better hurry back soon, or I'm going look me a Swedish maid !
