Here is what I've been up to lately.  I still have to drill several thousand holes in the drum and install a drive motor and spray bar.
I'll put more pictures on as I get more done.

Looks really heavy duty. I can see how it turns, but how will you drive it? A big belt drive pulley around the outside? Thats an interesting design. I assume it will tilt to one end as the clean veggies tumble out the other end? Nicely done! Smiley Larry

Here is one in action.   I plan to use a urethane drive wheel instead of a belt or chain.

Well, I made a drill jig to speed things up and I'm a quarter of the way done at 680 holes.  Only 2040 to go Shocked

Wow Mr. Daniel...that is a nice job. You must produce some real poundage of veggies to need that big a washer. Or maybe you will be sluicing for gold when not washing veggies? Grin Grin Grin How big a motor do you need to turn it? Larry

Luke,  the last time I saw a contraption like that, and believe it or not it is almost scary how similar it was, it was close diameter and half as long.  It was built to tumble wash and then polish 25,000 .308 Win brass cases at one time.  It didn't have lateral holes but thin slots machined into one end.  The cylinder would raise and lower on one end to wash and then drain, air dry and then tilt back up to polish.

I think your veggie washer is awesome.   Wink

I wanted to make a bottle crusher based on that same design, to pulverize all the beer bottles at the deer camp.

That is a neat washer Luke. Are you going to place wheels on it or place it on a bed of gravel or concrete slab?

Well I've made some more progress on the washer .  Got the drive wheel and spray bar on.  I'm working on some electric controls now.
I'll put more pictures on soon.

Larry- it's just one speed, product flow is adjusted by incline of the whole unit. I'm frustrated that the customer doesn't want legs on it though. He is just putting it on blocks or saw horses for now.
La-Ga- I had to take them to a lathe and narrow them up.  The channel iron rings aren't quiet true so in spots she bound up.  I have the wheels back on now but still have to wire it up.

All set, now time to take it all apart and paint.  I tried loading a vid of it running to photobucket but it quit loading. I'll try to remember how to load it to you tube and post a link.
